The KBM End of Winter 2023 Guide on How to Clean Your Gutters

If you are a home or business owner, then you know the important tasks that gutters have in the front line defense of protecting your home from foundation damage, mold or worse. We know how important this technology is to your building, and so we recommend making sure you keep your gutters as clean as possible so as to not run into any issues in case of heavy rain, improving and preserving the longevity and lifespan of your building.

At Kingman’s Building Maintenance, we recommend cleaning your gutters at least six - seven times (or even more) throughout the year. Your location as well as the foliage surrounding your building can play an important role in the amount of cleanings you may need during the year, and so we recommend you keep reading, or give us a call to ask one of our professionals.

The Location of Your Building.

A Gutter's main function is to funnel debris and other harmful elements off of your building and away from it. A lot of times we only consider the season we are in as to decide when we should clean our gutters or not. We feel that Location should also be a determinant factor.

Homes or Office Buildings that are in locations more susceptible to natural events are more likely to need gutter cleanings and each location can require different things. A dryer area with more wind may be more concerned with damage done to their gutters from high winds, where as an area with more foliage and trees such as here in Northern California (Where we have a ton of redwoods) may require a cleaning meant to loosen all the leaves, and debris a tree may shed.

All of these cleanings and repairs are valid so while the seasons may be a primary driver for deciding whether to clean your gutters or not, the location you are in may be as well.

The Season We Face.

Gutter Cleanings for The End of Winter

February, March, April

It is extremely important to consider that although we are past the fall season, in the winter, and especially the end of it, we typically see a lot of leaves and branches continuing to fall off trees as the winter continues to affect them. Especially fi yoru area has been windy, raining, or even snowing, this will continue to send debris into your gutters that may ultimately clog them, creating an issue for your home, office, or building.

It is especially recommended by our team that you receive at least one gutter cleaning between February, March, and April, for your Home, Office, Warehouse, or any Building in general. You should also use this time to seal any leaks or even reinforcing them.

Spring Cleaning

May, June, July

Spring Cleaning is now just exclusive to your home or office! Spring is the time to make everything fresh again, just like all the new beautiful plants growing outside! Spring is also a time when the most pollen and foliage is floating around. These can fly into your gutter and create a build up.

At Kingsman/s Building Maintenance, We advise you to clean your gutters at least once, especially at the end of Spring.

Summer Gutter Clean Out!

July, August, September

This Season may be more relevant to states in the south that experience severe summer storms during the summer months, as well as places like Arizona that see Monsoons during the summer.

Along with these violent storms, we see  heavy debris flying about that will definitely clog your gutters if they find their way into it.

For the areas such as ours that typically do not see much rain during the summer, this may be the perfect time to take advantage of the dry clean time and finish clearing out any gutter debris or gunk that built up from the wetter seasons.

For extra security we can provide some helpful solutions to make your gutters even stronger for the upcoming winter.

Fall Gutter Cleaning

October, November

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year because of the change in the color of trees, but this also signifies an increased amount of debris due to the shedding of their leaves. Something that follows due to the increase of wind and colder temperatures.

Fall is a very important time to stay on top of your gutters because the rate at which trees may shed their leaves can be hard to keep up with, ending up to you having to take the dangerous measure of climbing up and taking stuff out yourself.

Fall is the time you should get your gutters cleaned the most, we recommend at least 3 times at the beginning of october, end of october, beginning of november, and end of november.

Ideally, this is going to prepare you for the Winter.

Not All Times Are Best To Clean Your Gutters Yourself. Especially not in the Middle of Winter

December, January.

In this Article we Explored when are the best times to have your gutters cleaned, or for you to clean them yourself. One Period wher eyou definitely do not want to clean your gutters yourself is in the middle of winter.
