What’s The Difference between Pressure Washing, Power Washing And Soft Washing

Hiring a professional pressure washing company is one of the best ways to eliminate grime, stains, and heavy dirt  from the outside of your building or home.

Many building owners, managers, and homeowners do not know the difference between power, pressure, and soft washing; this makes it difficult for them to know what service their place may need. In this Blog, we explore the characteristics of each method, and we help you to decide, which one of these great services you may need help with. In any case, do not hesitate to call us right away at:

THE DIFFERENCE.

Power Washing.

Power washing is when you clean surfaces with a jet of pressurized water from a power washer. This system can use low pressure, medium pressure, and high pressure settings to clean. You can also use extremely high pressure for jetting, drain cleanup, blowouts, and many more.

What Is Pressure Washing?

Although people use one term or the other, surprisingly, Pressure washing is the same as power washing. These are interchangeable terms, so don’t get confused when people use one or the other

What Does Soft Wash Mean In Pressure Washing?

Soft washing is a term that originates in the late 80s and what it does is that it combines high water volume used at a low pressure pushing 15-20 gallons of water every minute at about 300 to 500 PSI. Most residential water systems have spigots that push 10 gallons at around 60 PSI. The advantages of soft washing are that it is safe because we are not using high pressure, and this method is more like using a regular water house (If a regular water hose were to shoot 50 feet in the air).

DO PRESSURE WASHERS USE MORE, OR LESS WATER?

HIGH pressure washing uses less water than traditional garden hoses as the machine we use, called a pressure washer, pushes more air than water into the house to shoot out the water. Most Pressure washers use only 3 gallons of water per minute and can reach up to 10 yards. Soft wash systems use more water but they push water further ( between 30 and 40 yards).

WHICH TYPE OF CLEANING IS BEST FOR ME?

This depends on your building, whether it be a home, office, or warehouse. If you have an expensive easily tarnishable material that you want cleaned such as vinyl, than soft washing might be your best bet.

In a case like the one mentioned above, a soft wash with safe chemicals (Recommended by our experts) would be the best option to get your building as clean as possible. High pressure will dig into your vinyl, and it can even do this to aluminum. High water pressure will dig into vinyl and aluminum sidings, significantly decreasing its visual appeal. A soft wash will preserve your home’s appeal while eliminating dirt, debris, and other unsightly contaminants. On the contrary, if you need to wash concrete, or a harder surface, high pressure washing may be your best bet.

In any case, our dedicated experts will offer you the best option for your building.

WHY SHOULDN’T I JUST PRESSURE OR SOFT WASH MYSELF?

This is a question we are asked typically. “Why shouldn’t I just go rent a pressure washer and do this myself?” There are many reasons as to why you should not do this, and at the end of the day it all comes down to this; pressure washing yourself may lead to a job that ends up being more expensive than you need it to be. Why? The simple explanation is that using these machines and techniques require a level of expertise that if you do not have, you may end up damaging whatever it is you are trying to clean. Pressure Washers and even some soft washers used with chemicals can damage decks, sidins, and more if not used correctly. You can also possibly injure yourself. We have years in experience using these machines and know exactly what needs to be done in any situation. Using Kingsman’s Building Maintenance, you do not have to worry about Property Damage, Injuries, incorrect water pressure, and expensive costs that may arise if you use a machine incorrectly.
